Pastor Nathan preaches on Jesus’ declaration in John 14:6: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Grounding the teaching in the backdrop of Exodus, Christology, and Solus Christus, he unpacks why the exclusivity of Christ is a foundational biblical truth rather than an act of arrogance.
"Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms… I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Heaven is the dwelling place of God — and the center of heaven is a who, not a what. It is freedom from trouble, a place where we dwell with God as family. The language of "take you to myself" carries rich marital imagery from the Old Testament — heaven is where our union with Christ is fully realized before the face of God.
Heaven is where the curse is rolled back, sin is done away with, and death and suffering are no more. Described in Revelation 21–22 as a garden-city shaped like the Holy of Holies, heaven is where God the Father, Son, and Spirit dwell with man forever — face to face, for all eternity.

The exclusivity of Christ as the way to God is historically at the very center of the Christian faith. And yet today, the boldness of saying Jesus is the only way is under constant assault. Thomas asked the question no one else would: "Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?" Jesus answered plainly: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
This is the 6th of Jesus' great "I AM" statements — echoing Yahweh's self-revelation to Moses in Exodus 3. The definite article in Greek ("the way," not "a way") signals singular exclusivity, confirmed by the strong negative: "No one comes except through me."
As Priest, Jesus opened the way into the Holy of Holies by tearing the curtain through the sacrifice of his own blood. God was the way through the Red Sea; Jesus is the way to the Father.
As Prophet, Jesus is the revelation of God. At Sinai, God gave truth about himself through the Law. Jesus is the fulfillment — the truth of God incarnate, the I AM of Exodus 3.
As King, Jesus is the source and sustainer of life. As God led Israel through the wilderness with manna, Jesus gives eternal life — his resurrection credited to all who believe.
Thomas à Kempis wrote: "Without the way there is no going. Without the truth there is no knowing. Without the life there is no living. I am the way which thou must follow, the truth which thou must believe, the life for which thou must hope."

Bavinck called Christology "the central point of the whole system of dogmatics." J.I. Packer called it "the true hub around which the wheel of theology revolves." Michael Reeves: "The center, the cornerstone, the jewel in the crown of Christianity is not an idea or a system — it is Jesus Christ."
Jesus is God the Son incarnate — fully God, fully man. Only God could deal with sin against God. Only a perfectly obedient man could spread God's image. The virgin birth was essential: Jesus was born outside the headship of Adam, forging a new lineage. No other being is the God-man qualified to do what needed to be done.
As Prophet, Priest, and King, Jesus fulfilled what no one else could. On the cross he died in our place — his death credited to us, our sin dying with him. In his resurrection, his righteousness is credited to us. His ascension guarantees ours. No one else could open the door to heaven for all who believe.
In our pluralistic culture, teaching the exclusivity of Christ seems narrow-minded or bigoted. Inclusivity has become the reigning religion of the secular mind — many ways, many truths, everyone their own arbiter of reality.
But even inclusivity is ultimately exclusive. In Delhi, a temple guru insisted all paths lead to God — until he said he could accept every path except the Christian one. True inclusivity is a logical impossibility. Any rational framework must exclude something. Once you divorce yourself from God, there is no objectivity in truth at all.
Truth is not a matter of pride or humility — it is a matter of fact. If there is one road into a neighborhood, it is not arrogant to say so. If two plus two equals four, stating it is not arrogance. If Jesus is the only way to God, proclaiming it is not opinion — it is truth.
God didn't write truth in the sky — he sent his Son in flesh and blood, with love, compassion, and patience. We must do the same.
We live in a world of shouted "truth bites." But missionaries and believers are called to embody truth in culture — patiently, relationally, incarnationally.
Acknowledge redeemable longings in others — the secularist's justice, the Buddhist's harmony, the Muslim's total worldview — then show how only Jesus fully answers them.
"Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals? And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll." — Revelation 5:2–3
The question of exclusivity rings through heaven itself: Who is worthy? No rival. No competitor. Until the elder declares: "Weep no more. Behold the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David — he has conquered."
The Lamb, standing as though slain, alone is found worthy. The angels cry with a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"
"Worthy are you to take the scroll… for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation."
He alone can lay claim to earth and the redeemed. He alone in his person and his work has been found worthy. Sola Christus.
Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This is not arrogance. It is the most beautiful, most urgent truth in the universe.
There is no one like Jesus — God the Son incarnate. Unique, exclusive, unrivaled.
Prophet, Priest, and King — he alone opened the door to heaven through his death and resurrection.
Proclaim a biblical Jesus. Incarnate truth. Win people to the wonder and worthiness of Christ alone.
"Oh God, help us not to shy away that Jesus is the only way — but to speak truth in such a way as to compel people to the beauty and uniqueness of Christ."
